Demo Calendar is a calendar of demonstrations, rallies, and civic actions taking place across Japan.
It is run by one person, independently. Before building this site, the operator had never attended a demonstration, and had no idea how many actions were taking place around the country every day. That is precisely why the guiding principle here is to be a place where anyone can take a first step with as little anxiety as possible.
Listings come only from organizers who submit them through the application form. Nothing is collected automatically from social media. Every submission is read by the operator, and the announcement and the organizer are checked before it is listed.
The criteria used for those checks are described on the listing review page (Japanese).
This site collects and presents event information. It is not a governing body for civic movements or demonstrations, and it is not affiliated with any organization or political party. It is run by a private individual. We are not the organizer of any listed event, so please direct questions about an event's content or how to take part to that event's organizer.
Please also follow each organizer's own announcements regarding rules and safety at their events.
Any legal procedures required to hold a rally or march in Japan — such as road use permits under the Road Traffic Act — are the responsibility of each organizer. This site is not in a position to verify or guarantee whether such permissions have been obtained, nor to judge the legality of any event. Please direct such questions to the organizer or to the relevant police station.
Announcements and account information are checked before listing, but the conduct and safety of an event on the
day are the responsibility of its organizer. Cancellations and postponements are shown only when the organizer
has notified us.
Please check the organizer's own link for the latest information before attending.
A listing is a judgment based on theme, format, and announcement criteria. It does not mean that we endorse the claims made at that event. Likewise, the absence of an event is not a judgment against it or its organizer — it simply reflects the scope of this site and the limits of running it alone.
